OR T-Cross is one of the great successes of Volkswagen in Brazil and is taught indoors. So much so that a future replacement for Gol could be a mini-SUV. However, the recipe for success does not rest only on the bodywork of the SUV.
The Volkswagen T-Cross brings together other attributes to achieve good performance on the market even in versions with a 1.0 turbo engine.
VW T-Cross equipment
Equipment such as the panoramic roof (optional), good results in the impact tests carried out by Latin NCAP and low maintenance costs are some of its qualities. The boxy, boxy look might not appeal to everyone, but it’s not controversial and is in line with the current brand language.

Dimensions of the VW T-Cross
Designed on the MQB modular platform, the Brazilian T-Cross is slightly larger than the European one, being approximately 9mm to 11mm taller, depending on the version, and 88mm longer, with an overall length of 4,199mm.

Versions of the VW T-Cross
Launched in 2019, it essentially remains with the same range initially presented, made up of the entry-level 200 TSI versions (which were available with a manual gearbox and two optional packages, Interactive I and II); Comfortline 200 TSI, also with Exclusive and Interactive packages; and finally the top of the High-line range, 200 TSI, which had as main options the digital panel, Beats sound and LED daytime running light.
Because of these option packages, it is very important to research carefully before making a decision to buy, as the price range is wide.

In the case of the base model, for example, there could be cars with a 6.5″ screen and rear view camera, optional in the packages. The same goes for Comfortline (LED ambient lighting, 8″ screen, sunroof, etc.) and Highline. Therefore, the values can vary greatly.
It is important to know that VW has already removed the entry-level 200 TSI version equipped with a manual transmission from the lineup, due to the very low sales rate. To get an idea, only 14 units were registered from January to June 2021. The likelihood of becoming a future classic is great, if that’s your thing.
Defects of the VW T-Cross
The T-Cross is a car with no major chronic flaws. The problems boil down to the end and the noise basically (see “Where the insect catches”)but unfortunately they are insistent.
Also check to see if recall campaigns have been met before buying, as in some cases the target of these requests were items that can be expensive today if not checked or swapped when called.

- Internal noise – The amount of hard plastic inside is high and with it annoying creaks appear, a constant source of complaints from the owners. And the dealerships don’t fix it either.
- foggy headlights – In some cases, water rushes mercilessly inside the headlights, causing problems component seal.
- Front suspension – It has already been subject to a recall involving the top nuts that secure the tie rods to the shock absorbers on 2020 models.
- Multimedia – In some cars it can overheat, freeze and even restart by itself. VW claims a software update will do the trick, but people get beaten by that.
- Fogging of the windscreen – In some cases, the windshield fogs up when the car is left exposed to the sun for a long time.
The reason is not clear. Suspicion falls on the presence of plastic fumes, coming from the heating of the panel and other parts. But it is sticky and hard to get off. Oh, and it comes back after you remove it too.

What I love:
“It is versatile, agile and economical. It drives very well and has very good interior space for its size. Despite being quite boxy, I think the car looks beautiful. The interior is modern and, in my case, the digital dashboard and Beats sound are excellent.”
What I hate:
“It’s always crickets and ‘nhéc-nhéc’ on the doors, on the dashboard, on the sides, everywhere. I took it to a local noise removal shop, it’s gotten a lot better, but they’re still there. The ending could be better.”

We said
“It was better equipped on the 2022 line, especially with regards to safety technologies. (…) We have chosen the top-of-the-range version, the Highline 250 TSI, to present five advantages and disadvantages of the bestseller. One of the main positive points is the performance provided by the 1.4 turbo engine, which delivers up to 150PS and 25.5kgfm. And while it is far from being the most powerful in its class, […] it is very efficient.
Also think of a Hyundai Creta

It’s had a recent facelift, but has other attributes, such as a five-year warranty and, depending on the version, digital TV and ventilated seats. Its trunk has an impressive 431 litres. But it has its cons, such as frustrating performance for a 2.0 engine, with only 166 HP. And consumption is far from low. But the serious chronic flaws of this model also disappear, it only depends on the updated revisions.
All time.
