WhatsApp: 5 features everyone would like to see in the app in 2023

WhatsApp announced several new features in the messenger in 2022, including the ability to remove “online” status, create polls and avatars, and react to messages. For 2023, new features are also expected and strongly desired by users, such as editing already sent messages and folders for stickers. Among the features, some have already been identified in development, while others are just rumors. THE TechAll has compiled a list of five features that everyone wants to see on WhatsApp in 2023. Find out what they are and what is known about them below.

A long overdue feature for messenger users would be a feature to organize the platform’s stickers in a folder. With the tool it would be possible to label and separate stickers in a personalized way, which would make it easier to find when sending the perfect sticker in a conversation, for example.

In 2020, WhatsApp released a feature to make it easier to find stickers, but in practice, the feature isn’t very useful. This is because it can’t recognize the stickers, even by searching for the file name. It’s worth mentioning that, so far, the feature is just a rumor and doesn’t have a release date.

Another much desired feature is the ability to activate a “busy mode” in WhatsApp. The feature could work similar to the tool that existed in the old MSN, where the user was able to report to other contacts when they were not online or wanted to avoid distractions, such as unsolicited conversations.

Additionally, the tool may still have a temporary silencer for messenger chats, which would disable WhatsApp notifications while “busy mode” is enabled. However, like the sticker folders, the feature is also just a rumor, with no release date.

3. Edit already sent messages

The controversial feature is present in several other messaging applications, such as rival Telegram, which has already had the feature since 2016. With the new feature, it would be possible to correct Portuguese errors and add forgotten information even after it has already been sent. In other applications, the message is marked with a tag indicating that it has been modified since sending.

An alternative widely used by users is to use an asterisk

4. Single view text messages

Another novelty expected for 2023 and identified in the test phase by the WABetaInfo portal are single-view text messages. According to the specialized site, known for spreading WhatsApp news and making predictions on the messenger, the new tool will allow users to send text messages that can only be opened once by the recipient, working similar to photos and videos sent from the mode.

5. Search messages by date

In 2023 WhatsApp should also release a function to facilitate the search for messages in conversations. With the feature it will be possible to set a specific day in which to read the texts of a chat and, as far as we know, the function should also be available in groups.
