The 80th delivery of the Golden Globes took place on Tuesday evening amidst uncertainties. After the award saw its continuity threatened by a variety of allegations ranging from corruption to racism, the glitz and prestige it once was have come under threat.
At least that’s what the change of date, from early Sundays to bland Tuesdays, and the lack of broadcasting of the ceremony in countries like Brazil itself indicated. On the other hand, names like Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, and Guillermo Del Toro were at the party, which hinted that there was a path to redemption.
Spielberg, by the way, was crowned with the statuettes of best director and best film for his “Os Fabelmans”, which is not yet released in Brazil.
Among the honored actors is Angela Bassett, who won the Best Supporting Actress statuette for her role in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever After’. Ke Huy Quan and Michelle Yeoh, of “Everything and Everywhere at the Same Time” also won.
Also winners were Tyler James Williams and Quinta Brunson, who star in “Abbott Elementary,” a production that won the Best Music or Comedy Series statuette.
“The White Lotus,” one of HBO’s most popular recent series, was honored with the award for Best Miniseries, Anthology or Telefilm. Also winning was Jennifer Coolidge, who plays Tanya in the production.
