the franchise Panic will turn 27 in 2023 and, to celebrate, Paramount Pictures (current rights holder) will release the sixth issue in theaters worldwide starting March 8. In Brazil the film arrives on March 9th. The truth is that the fifth film, titled only Panicmanaged to breathe new life into the franchise in 2022 and do what Wes Craven And Kevin Williamson had not reached in 2011, with Scream 4. It’s even ironic to think that the original creators didn’t achieve their goal of creating a new trilogy, as the fourth film didn’t do as expected at the box office. So it took ten years for a new studio, new producers and new directors – as well as a new cast – to achieve the expected success and open the door to a new series of films.
Scream 6 is the direct continuation of the previous film and follows the terrifying new adventures of Sam (Melissa Barrera), Tara (Jenna Ortega), Gale (Courteney Cox) and the gang who fight against a new Ghostface. The first trailer (after a teaser like the previous preview) has fans in an uproar. Here, in this new article, we’ll reveal the highlights of the trailer – which also included a cast introduction. Check it out below.
At one point in the trailer, the characters find a sanctuary for the killer, with several items that could very well be in the home of a franchise collector or even the studio vault. We comment below article by article, with the help of our colleagues at Blood Disgusting. It is also at this point that we get to see Dermot Mulroney’s character Williams.
Steve’s jacket – Steve was Casey’s (Drew Barrymore) boyfriend in the opening scene of the first Scream and his jacket is visible in the shrine.
Stu’s dressing gown – many believe that Stu is alive and in the sanctuary we can see the red robe he wore in the first film in the party scene.
Stu’s television – in the original film, Stu dies when a large TV falls on his head.
Tatum’s suit – Tatum was Sidney’s best friend in the first film, played by Rose McGowan. The character was also Dewey’s sister.
Billy’s shirt – Billy Loomis, the second assassin from the first film, dies wearing a white shirt, visible in the shrine.
Kenny’s cap Kenny was Gale Weathers’ first cameraman on the original film. The character wore a backwards cap, which is also present in the shrine.
university game mask – in the second film, the characters were participating in a Greek comedy and one of the masks from that production is also found in the shrine.
Debbie’s dress – Journalist Debbie was one of the assassins in the second film. The woman actually turned out to be Ms. Loomis, Billy’s mother.
Production material for ‘A Facada 3’ – these are objects from Scream 3, which speak of the film within the film.
Fax – one of the franchise’s most infamous deaths, in which Scream 3 actor Tom returns home to read a fax from the killer and ends up exploding from the lethal combination of gas and lighter fire.
Cooking pan – the frying pan used to beat up security guard Steve Stone in Scream 3 also appears at the scene.
Olivia’s shirt – one of the most brutal deaths in Scream 4 was that of the beautiful Olivia (Marielle Jaffe) and her dress is also featured here.
Jill’s dress – Emma Roberts character in Scream 4 is also remembered here – she was Sidney’s cousin and one of the murderers.
Woodsboro Police Uniform – a bloody police uniform appears behind the Dermot Mulroney character. It could be Dewey or the duo played by Anthony Anderson and Adam Brody in Scream 4.
Gale’s books – Journalist Gale Weathers has written several books on each of the cases she has witnessed. And all of them can be seen in this scene.
Ghostface fantasies – in one of the most impressive moments, we simply see all the costumes used by the franchise’s killers in these five films. There are clothes for Billy, Stu, Mickey, Debbie, Roman, Jill, Charlie, Amber and Richie.
Flag of Woodsboro High School – even the flag of Woodsboro High School, where the massacre took place in the first film, is in the scene.
bloody knife – finalizing the found objects, we have the most obvious of them: a bloody knife. At the same time, this item can be from any of the five films, or even from this one.
If the immortal Jason Voorhees already made his own movie in New York in the 80s, why couldn’t Ghostface do the same? In the first shot of the trailer, we see an aerial view of the ‘big apple’, the city that never sleeps – followed by a scene where sisters Sam and Tara are terrified as they seek shelter in a convenience store while fleeing from Ghostface.
In one of the trailer’s most striking scenes, we see Ghostface using a firearm for the first time in the franchise to take out a victim at close range. Continuing the aforementioned moment, with Sam and Tara desperate in a convenience store, Ghostface enters shortly after and takes out a bully with stab wounds. The venue owner soon takes out a 12-gauge and empties it into the maniac, to no avail. The psycho takes his gun and takes him out with a blunder. In the franchise we have already seen the killer use a firearm, but always after revealing his identity. This is the first time he’s done it in costume. Next, the killer pursues the sisters in what is shaping up to be one of the tenser stretches of the new film. How will they escape?
Oh yeah, the internet is already talking about the return of Stu (Matthew Lillard), one of the killers in the original film. There has long been this theory that Stu is actually alive and could return as one of the assassins in the sequel. Many even believe it’s him in this scene at the convenience store, because he has “blood in his eyes” after the revenge. Notice how the mask looks old and worn – it may have been stored for a long time. Or just suffered damage in this film itself.
Another theory that fans have always dreamed of coming true just came to fruition. After all, we live in an age where studios and producers really listen to fans and deliver exactly what they want. The best service for fans. Let the recent Spider-Man: Never Go Home say it, which fulfilled every wish of the fanbase and then even more. Here the same thing happens with the return of one of the franchise’s most beloved characters, Kirby, played by Hayden Panettiere in the fourth film. She was technically dead, but she was brought back to life by fans and producers for another round.
The Scream 6 trailer was very tense. And one of the moments that made fans nervous was the attack on Gale. Courteney Cox’s character gets a phone call and the villain is quick to say there’s never been a Ghostface like him. We know that he is the first with his “ghost cave”. The masked killer soon attacks and appears to kill an acquaintance of Gale’s in the same apartment and then goes after the reporter. He unloads a gun through the door, but it doesn’t seem to work as the boy leaps in front of her. Will Gale join Dewey on the other side this time? Or will it be just another provocation, like in Scream 4?
Jenna Ortega scored a great goal with the success of Wandinha on Netflix. But in the Scream franchise lives Tara, the younger sister of Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera). Many suspected that Tara would be one of the killers in Scream (2022), a theory shared by the characters in that film. It didn’t work out. However, here we have this scene where she gives a macabre smile, worthy of Wandinha, while someone tries to save her from falling off a building.
Knowing that directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are the new commanders of the Scream franchise, having directed the previous one and now this one, it was only a matter of time before we saw the blonde Samara Weaving in one of these films. This is because the duo became famous for the film Bloody Wedding (2019), starring the actress. Of course they were going to bring her into their current popular franchise. Weaving’s character has yet to be revealed, but here she is seen scared as she talks on her cell phone in an alley. It may be that she is the “famous first victim” so usual in the series.
The moment that concludes the trailer was already featured in the teaser and promises to be one of the best scenes in the film. Three snippets stand out in this first preview: the opening scene with a shotgun-wielding Ghostface, the attack on Gale, and this moment in the subway. Here, during Halloween, we noticed many costumed passengers inside the train. You can see the costumes of Freddy Krueger and Pinhead (from Hellraiser), but for the characters nothing compares to the fear felt when seeing some Ghostfaces. Until the real one steps up and attacks Randy’s niece Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown). Is it goodbye for her?
We follow the behind-the-scenes look at the months-long drama surrounding actress Neve Campbell’s salary settlement. The actress and the studio have not reached a consensus. Campbell says they would pay her less than the previous films, as she is the star of the franchise. The fact just goes to show the wage discrepancy she still grips Hollywood and the world when it comes to women getting what’s right for their work. Paramount demurred and Campbell walked out. Therefore, the studio will release the first Scream in history without the participation of Sidney, which is not seen in the trailer (fans still had hope). Who knows, maybe she’ll be back for the seventh. Let’s wait.
