1. Fiat Argo Drive 1.3 AT – BRL 90,990 (the cheapest automatic)
- Engine: 1.3 107/98 HP
- Transmission: CVT simulated seven-speed automatic
The model has just come out of the oven and is already the cheapest automatic car of 2023. The Argo with CVT transmission was launched in the third week of January with aggressive pricing starting with the Drive version – the other AT variant in the line it is the adventurous Trekking , which costs R$ 6 thousand more.
The cheapest automatic car in the country is equipped with stability, traction and hill climb control, air conditioning, front windows and electric locks, automatic pilot, penknife-type key with remote control for the doors and multimedia center with 7″ screen and Android Auto connection and Apple CarPlay.
The CVT box is the same one that made its debut in the Pulse compact SUV and that last year began to equip the more expensive versions of the Cronos. It was even expected that, together with the Cronos, the Argo AT would also arrive, which did not materialize at the time.
This Argo Drive 1.3 AT can also receive the optional S-Design package, which includes automatic climate control, electric windows and door mirrors, fog lights, leather-wrapped steering wheel, key present and reversing sensor, in addition to light alloy wheels. ” and darkened details on the external and internal finish. It costs an additional R$3,990.
Now, who knows how long Fiat will maintain these prices. As we will see later, Cronos, in mid-2022, was the cheapest automatic car in the country. Today it is at the bottom of the list.
2.Toyota Yaris XL – BRL 94.690
- Engine: 1.5 16V 110/105 HP
- Transmission: CVT simulated seven-speed automatic
The sedan produced in Sorocaba (SP) no longer has the manual transmission option, after the remodeling of the line carried out in January 2022. Now, the Yaris is treated only with the CVT transmission, with virtual seven gears, inherited from the old corolla. The box runs on the well-known 1.5 16V engine from Etios times.

The Yaris secured second place among the cheapest automatic cars because the Japanese brand did not raise the prices of its model so much, unlike rivals Peugeot, Citroën and General Motors
The entry-level XL version is sold with seven airbags (one for the driver’s knees), stability, traction and climb control, air conditioning, electric steering, trio and multimedia with 7 “screen and connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
3. Chevrolet Onix Turbo AT – BRL 95.050
- Engine: 1.0 12V turbo 116 HP
- Gearbox: six-speed automatic
Until early 2022, Onix was the cheapest automatic car in Brazil. But that all changed with the arrival of new models and versions of rivals. He has even lost many positions in the standings, but now he opens 2023 with an honorable third place.

Still struggling with the lack of semiconductors on the assembly line, but also returned to the top positions among the best sellers, the Onix in question uses a turbocharged three-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic gearbox.
In this version it receives six airbags, stability, traction and hill climb control, air conditioning, electric steering, electric windows and locks, knife key, audio with USB input, speed limiter, folding and split rear seat, among others.
4. Toyota Yaris Sedan – BRL 96.490
- Engine: 1.5 16V 110/105 HP
- Transmission: CVT simulated seven-speed automatic
Another one that has done well with the rise of rival brands and the demise of other models and releases. The sedan followed the restyling of the line promoted in January 2022, received more trim levels and the XL carries the same mechanics and standard equipment as the analogous hatch version.

5. Citroën C3 Feel package – BRL 96,990
- Engine: 1.6 16V 120/113 HP
- Gearbox: six-speed automatic
Launched in August 2022, the third generation of the French brand’s sedan arrived with an aggressive cost/benefit proposition. For this reason it is among the cheapest automatic cars in the country. However, he dropped from second to fifth due to the increases.

The cheapest option is the Feel Pack, with the same mechanical equipment as its platform companion, the Peugeot 2008: Aisin six-speed automatic transmission and naturally aspirated 1.6 16V EC5 engine with just 120/113 bhp. Set that should be discontinued in the medium term with the growing synergy of Stellantis.
Standard equipment includes stability and traction controls, ramp start assistant, tire monitoring, multimedia with 10″ display and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, reversing camera, diamond-cut wheels, electric windows and locks, climate control and key with remote control of the doors.
6. Peugeot 208 Active 1.6 AT – BRL 96,990.16
- Engine: 1.6 16V 118/115 HP
- Gearbox: six-speed automatic
Sales of the 208 more than doubled in one year. In addition to consolidating Stellantis, Peugeot kept the price of the second generation of its compact sedan among the cheapest automatic cars in 2023. It just couldn’t stay on the podium like it did in 2022.
It follows its automotive groupmate C3 by a few cents. But it is good to remember that this value is exclusive for purchases through the French brand’s e-commerce.

The Aisin transmission is the same as the Citroën relative, as is the old 1.6 16V engine – the Peugeot hatchback should arrive in 2023 with the 1.3 Firefly, a Fiat project, combined with the CVT transmission.
The 208 which takes its name from the yogurt with live lactobacilli is equipped with four airbags, stability, traction and climb control, air conditioning, electric steering, electric trio and automatic pilot. The multimedia with 7″ screen offers Android Auto connection and Apple CarPlay.
7. Fiat Chrono – BRL 98.990
- Engine: 108/98 HP 1.3
- Transmission: CVT simulated seven-speed automatic
The Fiat Cronos with CVT gearbox arrived in the middle of last year full of stalls. It quickly became Brazil’s cheapest automatic car, with the same continuously variable transmission that had debuted on the Strada. However, in less than six months, the car has become more expensive by more than 11%, with adjustments exceeding R$ 10,000.

As in the pickup and Argo, the simulated seven-speed gearbox works with the 1.3 Firefly engine, recalibrated for the Proconve L7 and delivering 108/98 bhp.
8.Chevrolet Onix Plus – BRL 100,550
- Engine: 1.0 12V turbo 116 HP
- Gearbox: six-speed automatic
The Onix Plus is much more expensive than the hatch derivative of the compact line. It’s R$5,500 to have the sedan with the same automatic gearbox and 1.0 turbo engine. This version also mirrors the hatch configuration.

9. Hyundai HB20 Comfort AT – BRL 102,990
- Engine: 1.0 12V turbo 120 HP
- Gearbox: six-speed automatic
The best-selling passenger car in the country underwent a facelift in July, but it was very expensive. Despite this, it managed to secure the list of the cheapest automatic cars of 2023 thanks to the Comfort version. The model uses a three-cylinder turbocharged engine combined with a six-speed transmission.

It should be remembered that all HB versions are now equipped with six airbags, automatic pilot and speed limiter. In Comfort it also receives stability and traction controls, ramp assistance, central blueMedia with 8” screen and wireless connection with smartphone, light alloy wheels, as well as air, electric steering and trio.
10. Volkswagen Polo Comfortline – BRL 103.990
- Engine: 1.0 12V turbo 116/109 HP
- Gearbox: six-speed automatic
The Polo closes the ranking of the cheapest automatic cars in the country. It’s another one that uses a turbocharged three-cylinder engine, the cult TSI, whose power was reduced in the 2023 lineup launched in the second half of last year.

On that occasion, the Polo line also underwent a restyling and a repositioning of the versions. The Comfortline configuration was one of the cheapest, but has since been retrofitted by a thousand R$…
The version’s equipment includes stability and traction controls, hill climb assistant, air conditioning, electric steering, trio, digital instrument panel on 8″ display, multimedia Composition Touch also on 8″ screen, reversing sensor, key and aluminum rims. League.
