Released in 2013, The Last of Us quickly became a phenomenon. To date, it is considered one of the best games of the last decade. In the storyline, players accompany Joel, who has been hired to break 14-year-old Ellie out of a quarantine zone. The journey, however, becomes a brutal battle in the ruins of the country.
Considered an all-time hit, the post-apocalyptic game was well received by critics and audiences alike. To the Metacriticthe title is classified as to play (in Portuguese, something like “mandatory game”) and rack up a score of 9.2. On the PlayStation page, TLOU stands out as having won over 200 Game of the Year awards.
In 2020, the game received a sequel, titled The Last of Us: Part II, which won the Game of the Year award at The Game Awards 2020. In 2023, the title won a series on HBO Max, which is already considered one of the best video game adaptations of all time. GTA 5 is another big name in the gaming world and no wonder it won Game of the Year in 2013 at The Game Awards. Rockstar’s title has spanned multiple console generations, originally released for PS3 and Xbox 360. Since its debut, Grand Theft Auto V has sold more than 170 million copies worldwide, making it the most profitable entertainment product in history.
In the storyline, players accompany the trio Franklin, Trevor, and Michael on their series of cons through the game’s fictional city, Los Santos. In addition, the online mode of the title is constantly updated to this day, bringing new dynamics to the game. In Bioshock Infinite, users follow the story of Booker DeWitt, veteran of the US cavalry and mercenary. He has been given the mission to rescue Elizabeth, a mysterious girl who has been trapped since childhood in the flying city of Columbia. Originally released for PS3 and Xbox 360, the title is available for purchase on PS4 and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). The game is also playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

One of Riot Games’ main rivals of League of Legends (LOL), Dota 2 was also released in 2013. Valve’s title was one of those responsible for popularizing the MOBA genre, and is still well known among gamers. Currently, for example, it is one of the most rewarding games in the panorama of electronic sports.
The game dynamics involve two teams of five players divided into paths, each with different roles and characters. The main objective is to reach and destroy the Ancestors (protected structures located inside the bases). Dota 2 is available for free download on Steam.

5. Injustice: Gods among us
Story, graphics and gameplay are some of the praised factors in Injustice: Gods Among Us. Set in the DC universe, the fighting game features both the publisher’s famous heroes and villains. In the storyline, Superman goes insane after a shocking event in his life and decides to rule by fear. Therefore, Batman is forced to organize a resistance to prevent the destruction of the Man of Steel. The title is available for purchase on PS4, Xbox One and PC (Steam). However, versions for Android phones and iPhones (iOS) are free to download.

In 2013, Tomb Raider showed gamers the origin of Lara Croft. The plot centers on the development of the famous survivor, who needs to unravel the dark history of the forgotten island she is on. The only Arkham game not produced by Rocksteady Studios, Batman: Arkham Origins is set before the acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. As with Tomb Raider, the game’s story focuses on Bruce Wayne’s rise as Gotham’s vigilante, showcasing the early days of what would become the Dark Knight. 8. Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag

Developed by Grinding Gear Games, Path of Exile is an online action RPG set in a fantasy world. According to the Steam description, in the game the player is an exile who needs to survive in the Wraeclast continent. Therefore, you have to increase your strength with items and continuous fights. The title, which has gameplay similar to Diablo 3, is available for free for PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), PS4 and Xbox One.
